As you stroll through the market on the last Friday of the month, don’t be surprised to find some young people undertaking some serious food prep. It’s just Carol Lafrance and her crew of volunteers helping kids learn a little bit more about healthy food choices and good eating habits.
Called Kids’ Plate, the program is designed to help kids get hands-on experience with fresh fruit and vegetables, and it has served hundreds of the Market’s youngest shoppers.
Participants in the program are instructed and encouraged to create and prepare dishes using whatever happens to be fresh that week. Once the prep work has been completed, the snacking begins!
Thanks to Carol’s bunch, our kids can be on their way to a healthier life.
