Welcome to the Vicksburg Farmers’ Market website!
Open every Friday, May 16th through October 10th from 2:30 pm – 6:30 pm. The Vicksburg Farmers’ Market is located at the beautiful community pavilion at 300 N. Richardson Street Vicksburg, MI. Please use Spruce St to access the Farmers Market.
“The Vicksburg Farmers Market is sponsoring a drawing for a beautiful hand stitched quilt donated to us by the Vicksburg District Library. The proceeds of the drawing will be used for the construction of a storage shed and restrooms for use by our Farmers Markets patrons.
The Farmers Market Board continues to look for ways to enhance and promote our new market home in the Community Pavilion so that we can continue to draw vendors that grow and sell fresh quality produce and related products that promote good health.
The quilt was hand stitched by the Vicksburg Hearthside Quilters in 1987. The quilt was presented to the Vicksburg District Library and for many years hung over the fireplace located in the original part of the Library building. The colors in the quilt are mauve, burgundy and navy blue against a white background. The quilt colors were selected to match the color scheme used in the Library at that time.
The center design of the quilt was chosen as it was a favorite of the Hearthside Quilters. The design for the border of the quilt was selected to match the design of the stencils used on the trim along the edge of the ceiling. The quilt measures about 45′ x 60′. Because of its dimensions, the quilt can be used as a wall hanging, a lap quilt or on a toddler’s bed.
The drawing for the quilt will be on Friday, October 3 at the Farmers Market (the winner need not be present). The quilt will be presented to the winner on the final day of the 2014 Farmers Market season on Friday, 10/16/2014. Tickets can be purchased at the market managers’ table on market days for $3 per ticket or $5 for two tickets.”
The market will feature a wide variety of locally grown products from farm fresh eggs to flowers to fruit and vegetables available through October 10th. There will be a selection of meat products in addition to many cottage food producers who can offer foods that are specialty items, made in their home kitchens under the “Cottage Food” law in Michigan.
